FAQ's

Who can attend the Champagne Ball?

Anyone over the age of 20 years, and who buys a ticket, can attend the Champagne Ball.

Who usually attends the Champagne Ball?

Anyone interested in associating with the international community of Nagoya/Chubu. Typically, but not necessarily, those associated with the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) and/or the Tokai Japan Canada Society (TJCS) make up the majority of attendees. However, the Ball is open to anyone who purchases a ticket to attend.

Do I need to be a member of ACCJ or TJCS?

No. You do not need to be a member of either organization to attend this event. Please join us.

What is the dress code?

The dress code is business formal. Black tie is also welcome. In years where we have had a specific theme, some attendees also choose to dress according to the theme.

Is it a costume party?

No. While we encourage guests to come clad to match our specific theme, this is not intended to be a tacky Halloween party.
We find that about 20% of our guests dress for the theme, about 30% dress black-tie formal, and the rest (50%) come in tasteful business attire.

What's the theme this year?

For 2017, we are Celebrating Canada's 150th Aniversary. The music, the food, and decor will draw upon the influence of this great nation. It's still a formal affair; come in black-tie, business formal, or clad in traditional garb with a Canada theme, perhaps a Mountie!

Why did the price go up??(from 2015)

We wanted to make the evening as simple as possible while providing the best experience for everyone. The ticket price has increased from ¥12,000 to ¥15,000 per person, BUT now includes all-you-can-drink for everyone (previously a ¥3,500 option). So for most guests, this represents a ¥500 reduction in the price. Also, the open bar has been extended to 3.5 hours (previously 3 hours) and now includes the following items:

  • beer
  • wine
  • whisky
  • liquor (Gin, vodka, rum)
  • soft drinks
    • Coca Cola
    • lemonade
    • orange juice
    • apple juice
    • tomato juice
    • cranberry juice
    • green tea (cold)
    • black tea (cold)
    • mocktail of the day
!! In previous years, the all-you-can-drink option only included beer, wine, orange juice and Oolong tea.
